Best Casino Apps in Ontario 2026: Tested iPhone & Android Apps

Of the Ontario casino apps we tested, our pick is BetRivers, at 4.8 out of 5 from 4,347 Canadian ratings — the highest score of every Ontario-regulated app we could open. BetMGM has the largest sample behind its score; PlayOJO has the biggest catalogue we counted at any brand with an app, at 6,174 titles. Of the 18 brands we added in October 2026, FanDuel has the strongest app numbers: 4.65 from 18,063 iPhone ratings and 4.6 on Google Play.

Every figure comes from the listings themselves. We opened every Ontario gambling app we could find on the Canadian App Store and Google Play Canada and wrote down what was actually there: publisher, version, last update, package identifier, minimum iOS, file size, star rating and the number of ratings behind it. Every figure on this page was re-confirmed against the live listing.

Then we checked every publisher against the operator named in the iGaming Ontario register. That is the step that matters, and it is why this page can tell you that one well-known brand states in its own help centre that it has an iPhone app when we could find no such app, and that four of the seven Apollo casino brands have a similarly named app from a different company sitting next to them in the Canadian stores.

How Many Ontario Operators Actually Have an App?

Forty-seven of the 51 Ontario-registered brands we cover have a mobile app, and this page has all forty-seven. They sit in two tables because we checked them in rounds. The main comparison covers 38 apps: the 23 operators of our first round (22 with an iPhone app in the Canadian App Store, plus SpinAway, which publishes on Android only) and the 15 apps among the 18 brands we added in October 2026. The second table covers the remaining nine — the ones most app rankings leave out entirely. Thirty-eight plus nine is forty-seven. The other four — Royal Panda, Knightslots, Mr Vegas and Toppz — have no app on either platform and appear in the main table as browser-only. Of the 47, 42 are on both stores, three are on iPhone only (DAZN Bet, Royal Vegas and Ruby Fortune) and two on Android only (SpinAway and High Flyer Casino). For scale: the iGaming Ontario operator directory lists 49 operators and 84 gaming websites. That register is wider than the 51 brands we review in depth, and we have not tested apps for the operators outside it. Among the 51 we do cover, four run no app at all and reach their players entirely through the mobile browser: Royal Panda, Knightslots, Mr Vegas and Toppz. A note on the regulatory language

A word on the regulatory language, because it is easy to get wrong. Ontario operators are not simply “licensed by the AGCO”. A private operator must be registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and, in iGO’s own wording, must have executed an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. OLG.ca is the single exception, operating under the conduct and management of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Every app on this page belongs to an operator we found on that register, published either by the operator itself or by a company in its group — Seminole Hard Rock Digital for Hard Rock Bet, Glitnor companies for LuckyCasino. Where the store names a company with no visible link to the operator, we say so: High Flyer Casino’s Android app is published by Starz Network Ltd, not by Ellipse Entertainment, and Spin Casino’s Google Play listing names Zulu Digital rather than Cadtree Limited. We list nothing else. You must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to play.

Why Most Ontario App Rankings Are Quietly Wrong

Most “best betting apps in Ontario” pages score apps by putting the App Store rating and the Google Play rating side by side, as if they measured the same thing. They do not, and the gap is big enough to reverse a ranking.

Apple reports ratings per storefront. When we say Betano holds 4.59 from 4,679 ratings, those are 4,669 Canadian accounts rating the Canadian app.

Google pools ratings globally. Betano’s Android listing showed 4.36 from 123,210 ratings and over five million installs when we checked it from a Canadian connection — but Betano operates in around twenty markets, and that number is all of them at once. Brazilian and Greek players are inside that average. Ontario players are a small fraction of it.

So an Android score describes a company’s global app, while an iOS score describes the product you will actually install here. Where the two disagree in this article we say so, and we weight the iOS figure more heavily.

The second thing worth knowing: a high rating on a tiny sample is not a high rating. PowerPlay scores 3.66 from 105 Canadian ratings. BetMGM scores 4.58 from 40,497. Those two numbers are not comparable, and no honest table should print them in the same column without the sample beside them. Ours prints the sample.

Nine Ontario Casino Apps Most Rankings Leave Out

Nine registered Ontario operators have apps that are routinely missing from “best casino app” lists, including some of the largest names in the province. Two of them are filed under Sports rather than Casino, which is enough to keep them out of a store search for “casino”. We verified all eighteen listings — iOS and Android — on the Canadian storefronts.

Three of those rows need a warning before you use the number, and they are the reason we publish the publisher and the package rather than a star rating on its own.

• Caesars’ Play rating is not Canadian. The listing is shared across Michigan, New Jersey, Ontario, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and its own description says so. The 4.27 pools American reviews with Ontario ones. On iOS the problem does not arise, because Apple separates stores by country: the Canadian listing shows 4.49.
• LeoVegas has almost no sample. Sixty-three iOS ratings and twenty on Google Play. The app launched recently and those averages will move a long way on a handful of new reviews. Treat 2.83 as “not yet measurable”, not as a verdict.
• 888 has two apps in the Canadian App Store. The Ontario one is 888casino Ontario: Live Casino. The other, 888 Casino: Real Money Games, shows a bigger rating count and is the international 18+ product on Maltese and Gibraltar licences — not the Ontario casino. Ontario is 19+.

Two of the nine are combined apps rather than casino apps: BetVictor and PointsBet put sportsbook and casino in one download, and PointsBet is filed under Sports in both stores — which is why searching the store for “casino” can miss it. Betway does the opposite and ships a separate casino app alongside its sports app.

Ontario Casino Apps Compared

All App Store and Google Play figures below were read off the Canadian storefronts. Minimum deposits and game counts are operator figures. Where a cell says “no app”, the operator has nothing on that platform and the mobile site is the whole product.

The order is by iOS score, because that is the Canadian sample. Read it with the rating counts in view: BetRivers leads on score, but Jackpot City’s 4.49 rests on 25,170 Canadian verdicts and PowerPlay’s 3.66 rests on 105 — those are not the same kind of number. Note too how often the two stores disagree: DraftKings is the strongest app on Android and mid-table on iOS, while PlayOJO is the reverse. At the foot of the iOS order sits LuckyCasino, at 2.2 from 18 ratings on iPhone and 2.2 from 15 on Google Play — the lowest-rated casino apps among the 51 brands we review, on samples too small to say much either way.

• Highest-rated app: BetRivers — 4.8 from 4,347 Canadian ratings, the top score in our comparison.
• Most-reviewed app: BetMGM — 40,497 Canadian ratings behind its 4.58, roughly ten times the sample of a typical rival here. Jackpot City (25,170), FanDuel (18,063) and Betty (16,785) follow. Only FanDuel’s combined Sportsbook & Casino app, a sports-first download, carries more: 4.78 from 47,895.
• Largest verified game catalogue: PlayOJO — 6,174 titles in its Ontario catalogue, the SkillOnNet library it shares with SlotsMagic and Spin Genie. Next come ToonieBet at 6,023, Betty at 5,579, Betano at 5,279 slots and BetRivers at 4,613 titles plus 600 live tables. Knightslots, a fourth SkillOnNet brand, counts more than any of them at 6,204, but has no app.

The Ontario Casino Apps Worth Installing

BetRivers — the highest-rated app in our comparison

BetRivers Casino & Sportsbook was on version 2026.19.1, published by Rush Street Interactive LLC, and holds 4.8 out of 5 from 4,347 Canadian ratings — the best score of any gambling app we measured here. Casino and sportsbook are genuinely one product on one account, so there is a single 173.0 MB app to install rather than two. On Google Play it sits at 4.51 from 1,501 ratings and over 100,000 installs, last updated 24 September 2026.

Two oddities are worth knowing before you download. The screenshots on the Canadian App Store listing are named for Alberta in the operator’s own filenames, because the same app serves both provinces — 19+ in Ontario, 18+ in Alberta. And the Ontario site links its iOS download to the American App Store rather than the Canadian one. Search the store yourself instead of following that link.

One practical catch: BetRivers needs iOS 16.4, a higher floor than Betano, bet365 or PlayOJO.

BetMGM — the score with the most evidence behind it

BetMGM Casino’s 4.58 comes from 40,497 Canadian ratings, roughly ten times the sample behind most of this list and the most-reviewed app in our Ontario comparison. On Google Play it sits at 4.33 from 11,397 reviews, last updated September 1, 2026.

This is one of the operators that ships a casino app separate from the sportsbook, so make sure you have the right one — both are published by BetMGM, LLC, and the casino app is 128.1 MB. Note the requirement: iOS 18.0, the highest floor of any app on this page alongside Sports Interaction, bwin, PartyCasino and Wheel of Fortune Casino, which BetMGM also publishes. An iPhone that cannot reach iOS 18 cannot run it.

Casino Days — strong on both stores, publisher verified

The iOS app is published by Golden Nebula Limited — the same entity iGaming Ontario lists in its register. That is a check worth doing, and one that quietly fails elsewhere. It holds 4.6 from 1,781 ratings behind a catalogue of 2,574 titles, in an 81.5 MB download on iOS 15.6 or later.

The Android package is com.casinodays.canada, 4.54 from 383 ratings and over 50,000 installs, last updated 29 July 2026. One gap: the Play listing does not name the AGCO or iGaming Ontario anywhere in its description.

FanDuel — high on both stores, with a large sample on each

FanDuel Online Casino, published by FanDuel in the Canadian stores, holds 4.65 from 18,063 Canadian ratings on iPhone and sat second in the App Store’s Casino chart on 15 October 2026. On Google Play (com.fanduel.casino.ca) it rates 4.6 from 10,621 reviews with over 100,000 installs — the second-best Android score in this comparison after DraftKings. It was on version 2.55.1 and needs iOS 15.1, in a 222.3 MB download.

FanDuel splits its products: the casino app above holds the 3,814 games we counted, and a separate FanDuel Sportsbook & Casino app (4.78 from 47,895 iPhone ratings) carries both. Install the one that matches how you play.

Betty — top of the Casino chart, and the largest new lobby

Betty Casino: Real Money Slots was number one in the Canadian App Store’s Casino chart when we read it on 15 October 2026 — a chart position, so it moves — with 4.57 from 16,785 ratings, the fourth-largest iPhone sample among the 51 brands we review. Google Play (ca.betty.app) shows 4.45 from 12,124 reviews and over 100,000 installs. The iPhone app is published by Betty Gaming, Inc, on version 1.178.3, and needs iOS 16.4 in a 152.8 MB download.

Behind the app sits the largest catalogue of the brands we added in October: 5,579 games from 69 studios, almost all of them slots, with a $1 minimum deposit. Apple Pay deposits are available in the app only.

BET99 — one app for sport and casino, on the oldest iPhones

BET99 Sportsbook & Casino carries both products in one download. On iPhone it is published by 1000007698 Ontario Ltd, the company named in BET99’s Ontario terms, and rates 4.1 from 1,069 ratings (#26 in Sports on 15 October 2026). It needs only iOS 14 — jointly the lowest floor among the apps detailed on this page, with PlayFallsview — in a 136.3 MB download on version 1.0.109.

The Android app (com.bet99.sports, over 100,000 installs) is the weaker build, at 3.32 from 418 reviews. Inside either one the lobby showed 3,146 casino games and 663 live tables on 15 October 2026.

Bally Bet — well rated, but it needs iOS 17

Bally Bet Sportsbook & Casino is published by Bally’s Corporation on both stores and holds 4.61 from 4,234 Canadian ratings on iPhone, on the App Store since October 2022; on Google Play it rates 4.17 from 1,488. The iPhone app needs iOS 17, a higher bar than most here, in a 116.2 MB download on version 26.20.0.

On Android, install com.ballyscorp.ballybetca: the old Gamesys listing that search still returns, com.gamesys.ballycasino, now leads to an error page. Its sister brand MONOPOLY Casino runs on the same Bally’s platform, in an app published by Bally’s Interactive that rates 4.58 from 1,004 on iPhone and 4.24 on Google Play.

The seven Apollo apps, which are not seven different apps

Captain Cooks, Casino Classic, Golden Tiger, Grand Mondial, Luxury Casino, Yukon Gold and Zodiac are all published in Ontario by Apollo Entertainment Ltd. They are not competing brands with competing apps — they are one platform in seven skins, and the store listings prove it.

On iPhone, all seven were on version 3.4.0 in October 2026, every one of them weighs 40.8 to 42.4 MB, and all seven require iOS 16.0; six of them shipped that version on the same day, 8 October. On Android the pattern is even plainer: all seven Play listings were last updated on the same day, 30 September 2026. In August it was six of seven on one date, with Golden Tiger a few days behind. That is the signature of a shared codebase, not seven development teams.

Where the seven Apollo apps differ

Where they differ is audience size, and it is not where the marketing would suggest. On iOS, Yukon Gold has 1,330 ratings and Casino Classic has 149 — the same product, nine times the reach. On Android, Grand Mondial and Luxury Casino have passed 50,000 installs against 5,000+ for Casino Classic. Luxury Casino has the deepest history — online since 2001 — and ranked 16th in the Canadian App Store’s Casino chart when we checked.

The scores are effectively identical, which is what you would expect: 4.59, 4.56, 4.56, 4.53, 4.52, 4.52 and 4.40 across the group on iOS. If you are choosing between them, the app is not the deciding factor — the withdrawal terms and the payout speed are. One documentation slip worth flagging: Grand Mondial’s two store creatives print different licence numbers for the same app.

Casino App vs Betting App: How Many Will You Install?

One app or two: how operators split casino and sport

“Casino app” and “betting app” are not the same question in Ontario, because operators solve it three different ways, and which one you are dealing with decides how many apps end up on your phone.

One app for everything. BetRivers, Betano and PowerPlay put casino and sportsbook in a single download, and so do BET99, Bally Bet, MONOPOLY Casino, PlayFallsview and DAZN Bet. Betano’s carries casino, live casino, sportsbook and virtuals together — there is no separate Betano casino app, and looking for one will only find you the wrong thing.

Two apps, deliberately split. BetMGM and bet365 ship the casino as its own app. With bet365 there is a third piece most reviews never mention: two-step login requires the separate bet365 Authenticator app, and that one rates 1.3. You will be installing it regardless of what you think of it. Hard Rock Bet splits the same way, with a Casino app (4.47 from 1,012 iPhone ratings) and a Sportsbook app (4.7 from 459), both from Seminole Hard Rock Digital, LLC; FanDuel offers both models, a casino-only app and a combined Sportsbook & Casino one.

Three apps. bwin is registered for casino, poker and sports betting at once and delivers all three as separate downloads — on.bwin.casino, on.bwin.sports and on.bwin.poker on Apple, with different identifiers again on Google Play, where the casino app is bwin.ca.casino. Note that the iOS casino app is titled “bwin Online Casino Games” without the word Ontario, while the sportsbook is titled “bwin Ontario Sports Betting”. Both are published by Entain Operations Limited on iOS.

DraftKings also splits casino from sportsbook, and it publishes enough for a real size comparison: the combined Sportsbook & Casino app is 360.6 MB, the casino-only app 207.9 MB. Both need iOS 16.2. If storage is tight, that is a difference you can feel.

How to Avoid Downloading the Wrong Casino App in Ontario

The single most useful thing we found is not a rating. It is that searching an operator’s name in the Canadian stores frequently returns something that is not the Ontario product. These are the cases we confirmed:

The cases we confirmed, brand by brand

• Royal Panda has no app we could find. Nothing in the Canadian App Store, nothing on Google Play Canada, and the site’s own “Social & Apps” footer block contains no app badges. The help centre nevertheless states that an iOS app exists. The mobile browser runs the full lobby, live tables included.
• bwin — searching “bwin” also returns the international sportsbook app, which is not the Ontario product. Look for “Ontario” in the title or on.bwin in the iOS identifier, and Entain Operations Limited as the publisher.
• Sports Interaction — two further official apps use almost the same name on Google Play Canada: one is live scores, one is a legacy build. The one you want is titled Sports Interaction Sportsbook. Note that the publisher differs by platform: Avid Ecom Solutions Limited on iOS, ElectraWorks Limited on Google Play. Both are Entain entities.
• NorthStar Bets — install NorthStar Bets Ontario, published by NorthStar Gaming (Ontario) Inc. A second app, NorthStar Bets Canada, is published by Slapshot Media Inc. and serves a site that is not part of the AGCO-regulated Ontario market.
• ToonieBet — install ToonieBet Ontario: Live Casino, published by Canadix Limited (4.44 from 2,727 iPhone ratings). A second app, ToonieBet – Casino & Betting from Globalix Holding Limited, sits beside it in the App Store. ToonieBet’s own app page also tells Android users to download an APK file; you do not need it, because the Ontario app is on Google Play Canada.
• Hard Rock Bet — on Google Play Canada an app called “Hard Rock Bet” from Solios LLC, with more than 1,000 downloads, is a wardrobe-planning tool that repeats the brand name in its description. The Hard Rock Games apps (Hard Rock Slots, Hard Rock Jackpot Planet) are free-to-play social casinos. The real ones are Hard Rock Bet Casino and Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook from Seminole Hard Rock Digital, LLC.
• DAZN Bet — the help centre’s app article still links to the UK apps, which do not work in Ontario. The Ontario app is DAZN Bet ON: Sports & Casino, on iPhone only; Android players use the mobile site.
• Bally Bet — Google still returns the old Gamesys listing, com.gamesys.ballycasino, which now leads to an error page. Install com.ballyscorp.ballybetca, published by Bally’s Corporation.
• Wheel of Fortune Casino — the Wheel of Fortune game app from Scopely, based on the TV show, is not a casino. The Ontario app is Wheel of Fortune Casino – ON, published by BetMGM; ignore the help centre’s old instructions to sideload the Android app, because it is on Google Play.
• Knightslots — there is no Ontario app, and the “Open App” button on knightslots.ca leads to a Google Play listing that returns “not found”. Any site offering a Knightslots app download is not the regulated casino.

The three where the store itself is inconsistent

• ComeOn — on Google Play the listing correctly states 19+ and Ontario only. The Canadian App Store listing, ComeOn! Casino Online & Bet by Co-Gaming Ltd, makes no mention of Ontario or the AGCO anywhere in its description.
• SpinAway — searching the name in the Canadian App Store returns unrelated consumer apps and no casino. The real one is ca.spinaway.app on Android; there is no iPhone app, so on iOS you play in the browser.
• Lucky Days — there are two apps from the same publisher, L7 Entertainment Limited. The current one is Lucky Days – Ontario & Alberta, on version 1.11.0 with 247 iOS ratings. The other, Lucky Days Casino – Canada, is also on version 1.11.0, with 39 ratings.

Four Apollo brands have a lookalike in the Canadian stores

This is the finding we did not expect. Search Casino Classic, Golden Tiger, Grand Mondial or Yukon Gold in the Canadian stores and a similarly named app from a completely different company appears alongside the real one — in the case of Casino Classic, above it on both platforms. None of these are the Ontario casino.

Two lookalikes we recorded in August — Zodiac Jackpot Reels and Slotshake Casino, which sat beside Zodiac and Luxury Casino — were no longer in the Canadian App Store in October. Casino Classic is the clearest case, and it is worse on Android than on iPhone: on Google Play Canada the AppGenius Labs app is the first result and the real Apollo app is not on the opening row at all.

The rule is simple, and it held in every case we checked: the Ontario app has “Ontario” in its title and Apollo Entertainment Ltd as its publisher. If either is missing, it is not the casino you were looking for.

And one case where the operator has not made up its own mind: PlayOJO has an app in both stores, updated regularly, published by Skill On Net Ltd and rated 3.96 from 4,317 Canadian ratings — but the Ontario site marks both apps as unavailable in its own configuration, and the operator’s iOS and Android pages give browser-shortcut instructions instead of a download link, while the help centre links to both stores. The browser works either way.

Brands people search for that are not registered in Ontario

Some of the most searched “Ontario app” brand names belong to casinos that are not on the iGaming Ontario register. They are absent from every table on this page for that reason:

• Unibet — closed its Ontario platform permanently on 26 March 2024; the site now returns a closure notice saying accounts can no longer be accessed, after Kindred Group announced its exit from North America the previous November. There is no Unibet app in the Canadian App Store and none on Google Play Canada. The only app called “Unibet” in the Canadian Play store is published by SKYWAY HAULAGE LIMITED, a British haulage company, under the package com.footballmaster.goalleaguecup — a mini-game borrowing a gambling brand’s name, not a casino.
• Casimba — never registered with iGaming Ontario, and its own terms exclude the province. The site is run by White Hat Gaming Limited on a Malta licence (MGA/B2C/370/2017) at 18+, where Ontario requires 19. Several affiliate sites publish an iGO licence number for Casimba; there is no such registration — neither “Casimba” nor “White Hat Gaming” appears in the public register. The only Casimba app in the Canadian App Store is a British product from Whitezip Ltd with zero ratings, and there is no Android app at all.
• Betsafe and Casumo — also absent from the register.

What to do about the brands that are not registered

Our reviews of those brands carry the full disclosure, and our guide to legal online gambling in Ontario explains what registration actually protects you from. If you want the regulated equivalents, they are the operators in the comparison table above.

The reliable check takes ten seconds: before you install anything, confirm the publisher name against the iGaming Ontario operator directory. If the publisher is not on that list, the app is not the Ontario product, whatever the icon looks like.

Will the App Run on Your Phone?

Minimum iOS and Android requirements

Ontario operators set very different floors for iOS — from 13.0 to 18.0. That spread is the detail that decides whether an older iPhone can play at all, and almost no comparison page publishes it. Among the apps detailed below the floor is iOS 14, at BET99 and PlayFallsview; the lowest of all 51 brands is 888 Casino at 13.0, which we cover in the mobile casinos guide.

The spread is wider than it looks. An iPhone stuck on iOS 14 can run BET99 and PlayFallsview and nothing else on this list; one on iOS 15 adds Betano, bet365, PlayOJO and Stardust; an iPhone on iOS 17 can run everything except BetMGM, Sports Interaction, bwin and Wheel of Fortune Casino.

Android requirements: what the Canadian Play listings show

Google no longer publishes a minimum Android version on the public listing, so the useful Android figures are the package identifier, the rating and its sample, the install band and the last update. All were read from Google Play Canada. Remember that Play ratings and installs are worldwide totals, not Canadian ones.

Two things stand out. SpinAway and High Flyer Casino are the only brands here that exist on Android and not on iPhone, while DAZN Bet, Royal Vegas and Ruby Fortune are the reverse: iPhone apps, and the mobile site on Android. And the seven Apollo listings sharing a 30 September update date are the same release pushed to seven brands at once — further confirmation that they are one product, not seven.

Best Ontario casino apps for older iPhones

BET99 and PlayFallsview have the lowest iOS floor in our table, at iOS 14, and both carry a sportsbook in the same download. Betano, bet365 Casino, PlayOJO and Stardust follow at 15.0, with Jackpot City, its Cadtree sisters Spin Casino, Royal Vegas and Ruby Fortune, FanDuel and Hard Rock Bet at 15.1. If your iPhone has not been updated in a few years, start with those — and of the iOS 15.0 group, Betano is the only one that includes a sportsbook.

At the other end, BetMGM, Sports Interaction, bwin and Wheel of Fortune Casino all require iOS 18.0, four full major versions above BET99. If your phone cannot reach that, the mobile browser is the route in.

Storage is the second constraint, and it does not track the iOS floor at all. Betano needs only iOS 15 but weighs 304.1 MB, while bet365 Casino needs the same iOS 15 and weighs 25.4 MB. On a full phone, Lucky Days at 9.9 MB and PlayOJO and bet365 Casino at 25.4 MB are the light options.

The Brands With No App, and When the App Is Not Worth Installing

Two questions get confused here, and only one of them belongs on this page. Whether to play in a browser at all — storage, updates, biometric login, and the six Ontario sites that install to your home screen with no store involved — is answered in the mobile casinos section below. What follows is the app side alone: which brands publish no app, and where the app we tested is the weaker build.

Do Royal Panda and SpinAway have an Ontario app?

Royal Panda has no app on either store, and SpinAway has one on Android only. We searched both names on the Canadian App Store and on Google Play from a Canadian connection: Royal Panda returns unrelated social casino games on both platforms, and SpinAway returns nothing on iPhone. Royal Panda’s own help centre still refers to an iOS app we could not find.

That is not a gap to work around: for these two operators the mobile site is the official Ontario product, and any “Royal Panda app” you find in a store is somebody else’s software. SpinAway iPhone players are in the same position.

Knightslots, Mr Vegas and Toppz: no app either

Three of the brands we added in October 2026 join Royal Panda as browser-only. Knightslots has no Ontario app on either store — the only one of the four SkillOnNet casinos without one — and its mobile site carries the full 6,204-game lobby, the cashier and live chat. Mr Vegas runs in the browser with GeoComply’s no-download location check, so there is no plugin to install. Toppz has no app on the Canadian App Store or Google Play; lobby, cashier and live chat work in the mobile browser as on desktop.

Four more have an app on one platform only. High Flyer Casino is on Android alone, so on iPhone you play in the browser. DAZN Bet, Royal Vegas and Ruby Fortune have iPhone apps and no Google Play app, so Android players use the mobile site.

When the app is the weaker build

Jackpot City on Android. The iPhone app holds 4.49 from 25,170 Canadian ratings. The same casino on Google Play Canada scores 4.12 from about 1,960 — roughly a thirteenth of the sample and a lower score. The two builds are not equivalent, so an Android player should not assume the iPhone reviews describe what will install.

LuckyCasino on both stores. Both of its apps are published by Glitnor companies rather than the Ontario operator, and both rate 2.2, from 18 ratings on iPhone and 15 on Google Play. The lobby behind them is a solid 3,187 games, but on the evidence available the mobile website is the better way to play it.

Any iPhone below iOS 14. Nothing in our requirements table will install, whatever the store page says; only 888 Casino’s app, at iOS 13.0, goes lower. The alternatives are in the mobile casinos guide.

Mobile Casinos in Ontario: Playing in the Browser

An app is one way onto an Ontario casino from your phone; the mobile site is the other, and the two are separate products that different operators do well. This section covers the browser route: which sites are built for it, which install to your home screen with no store, and how paying from a phone works.

There is no single best mobile casino in Ontario, because the app and the mobile site are separate products and different operators win each one. These are our picks by category, every one of them taken from a measurement in the tables below rather than from an operator’s own claims.

Three of those categories exist only because we tested the browser separately from the app, and they are the ones that decide how a casino actually feels on a phone. Best Mobile Casino Websites in Ontario

Every registered Ontario casino works in a phone browser, but only some of them are built to behave like an app once you are there. We requested thirteen Ontario home pages as an iPhone and read the code each site returned. This is our own measurement, and we have not seen it published anywhere else for this market.

Spin Genie is the only site that returned all four signals, which makes it the best mobile casino website in Ontario on this measure. The three Skill On Net brands — Spin Genie, SlotsMagic and PlayOJO — behave almost identically here, which is what you would expect from sites running on one platform, and matches what we found when we counted their game catalogues.

The five sites with nothing are not broken. They are ordinary mobile sites that work fine in a browser; they simply do not offer the installed-app behaviour, and their operators put that effort into the store app instead. BetMGM, Caesars and PartyCasino all have strong apps — that is where they want you.

Every available app we evaluated was checked on the Canadian App Store and/or Google Play Canada from a Canadian connection. We recorded the publisher name, version number, last update date, package identifier, minimum OS, file size, star rating and the number of ratings behind it. Regulated Ontario operators publish their apps in the official Canadian App Store and Google Play. Google allows real-money gambling apps in Canada only from operators who can show a valid licence or registration, and only in the regions where that licence applies. The step that catches most iPhone users is precise location. If it is turned off, iOS only shares an approximate area with the app. Geolocation services often cannot confirm you are inside Ontario from that, especially near the Quebec or US borders.

Register

Registration on an Ontario app takes a few minutes and is far more standardised than in unregulated markets. Every operator has to confirm your identity and age, check that you are not self-excluded, and collect enough information to meet anti-money-laundering obligations. Identity verification: instant or document upload

Most operators first try to verify you electronically. They compare what you entered against credit bureau and other databases. When that works, you won’t notice it happened. When it doesn’t, the app asks you to upload documents instead:

One account per brand, even under one operator

Several Ontario brands share an operator and a platform, as the Apollo section above shows. Even so, assume each brand needs its own registration. Before you deposit, check how you will withdraw. A deposit method that can’t receive payouts isn’t a problem in itself. It does mean you will need a second method verified later, and that can add time to your first cash-out.

Why you won’t see bonus figures here

Ontario regulation restricts how gambling bonuses and inducements are advertised. Operators cannot promote them in general public advertising. Geolocation: the Ontario-specific friction

Every regulated Ontario app has to confirm that you are physically inside the province. Operators use specialist geolocation providers, and GeoComply is a widely used one in North America.
