Our pick for the best casino app in Ontario is BetRivers, at 4.8 out of 5 from 4,052 Canadian ratings — the highest score in our comparison of every Ontario-regulated gambling app we could open. BetMGM has the largest sample behind its score; Casino Days has the biggest catalogue we counted.
We did not take those numbers from a press release. We opened every Ontario gambling app we could find on the Canadian App Store and Google Play Canada and wrote down what was actually on the listing: publisher, version, last update, package identifier, minimum iOS, file size, star rating and the number of ratings behind it. Every figure on this page was re-confirmed against the live listing.
Then we checked every publisher against the operator named in the iGaming Ontario register. That is the step that matters, and it is why this page can tell you that one well-known brand states in its own help centre that it has an iPhone app when we could find no such app, and that every one of the seven Apollo casino brands has a similarly named app from a different company sitting next to it in the Canadian stores.
How Many Ontario Operators Actually Have an App?
We found 22 Ontario-registered operators with a mobile app at the time of our check: 21 with an iPhone app in the Canadian App Store, plus SpinAway, which publishes on Android only. That is a count of the operators we found with an app — not the size of the regulated market.
For scale: the iGaming Ontario operator directory listed 48 operators and 83 gaming websites at our last check. So roughly half of the province’s regulated operators run no app at all and reach their players entirely through the mobile browser. That is a normal way to operate here, not a warning sign. A word on the regulatory language, because it is easy to get wrong. Ontario operators are not simply “licensed by the AGCO”. A private operator must be registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and, in iGO’s own wording, must have executed an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. OLG.ca is the single exception, operating under the conduct and management of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Every app on this page is published by an operator we found on that register. We list nothing else. You must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to play.
Why Most Ontario App Rankings Are Quietly Wrong
Most “best betting apps in Ontario” pages score apps by putting the App Store rating and the Google Play rating side by side, as if they measured the same thing. They do not, and the gap is big enough to reverse a ranking.
Apple reports ratings per storefront. When we say Betano holds 4.58 from 4,490 ratings, those are 4,490 Canadian accounts rating the Canadian app.
Google pools ratings globally. Betano’s Android listing showed 4.3 from 116,000 ratings and over a million installs when we checked it from a Canadian connection — but Betano operates in around twenty markets, and that number is all of them at once. Brazilian and Greek players are inside that average. Ontario players are a small fraction of it.
So an Android score describes a company’s global app, while an iOS score describes the product you will actually install here. Where the two disagree in this article we say so, and we weight the iOS figure more heavily.
The second thing worth knowing: a high rating on a tiny sample is not a high rating. PowerPlay scores 3.8 from 94 Canadian ratings. BetMGM scores 4.58 from 38,801. Those two numbers are not comparable, and no honest table should print them in the same column without the sample beside them. Ours prints the sample.
Ontario Casino Apps Compared
All App Store and Google Play figures below were read off the Canadian storefronts. Minimum deposits and game counts are operator figures. Where a cell says “no app”, the operator has nothing on that platform and the mobile site is the whole product.

The order is by iOS score, because that is the Canadian sample. Read it with the rating counts in view: BetRivers leads on score, but Jackpot City’s 4.5 rests on 23,257 Canadian verdicts and PowerPlay’s 3.8 rests on 94 — those are not the same kind of number. Note too how often the two stores disagree: DraftKings is the strongest app on Android and mid-table on iOS, while PlayOJO is the reverse.

- Best browser-only casino: Royal Panda — no app on either platform, but the largest lobby of any brand here at 4,020 games, live tables included.
The Ontario Casino Apps Worth Installing
BetRivers — the highest-rated app in our comparison
BetRivers Casino & Sportsbook was on version 2026.16.1, published by Rush Street Interactive LLC, and holds 4.8 out of 5 from 4,052 Canadian ratings — the best score of any gambling app we measured here. Casino and sportsbook are genuinely one product on one account, so there is a single 166.6 MB app to install rather than two. On Google Play it sits at 4.4 from about 1,400 ratings and over 100,000 installs, last updated 12 August 2026.
Two oddities are worth knowing before you download. The screenshots on the Canadian App Store listing are named for Alberta in the operator’s own filenames, because the same app serves both provinces — 19+ in Ontario, 18+ in Alberta. And the Ontario site links its iOS download to the American App Store rather than the Canadian one. Search the store yourself instead of following that link.
One practical catch: BetRivers needs iOS 16.4, a higher floor than Betano, bet365 or PlayOJO.

BetMGM — the score with the most evidence behind it
BetMGM Casino’s 4.58 comes from 38,801 Canadian ratings, roughly ten times the sample behind most of this list and the most-reviewed app in our Ontario comparison. On Google Play it sits at 4.4 from 11,100 reviews, last updated 24 July 2026.
This is one of the operators that ships a casino app separate from the sportsbook, so make sure you have the right one — both are published by BetMGM, LLC and both are 130.6 MB. Note the requirement: iOS 18.0, the highest floor of any app on this page alongside Sports Interaction and bwin. An iPhone that cannot reach iOS 18 cannot run it.

Casino Days — the largest catalogue, publisher verified
The iOS app is published by Golden Nebula Limited — the same entity iGaming Ontario lists in its register. That is a check worth doing, and one that quietly fails elsewhere. It holds 4.59 from 1,549 ratings behind a catalogue of 2,528 titles, the largest we have counted in the province, in an 81.5 MB download on iOS 15.6 or later.
The Android package is com.casinodays.canada, 4.1 from 293 ratings and over 50,000 installs, last updated 29 July 2026. One gap: the Play listing does not name the AGCO or iGaming Ontario anywhere in its description.

The seven Apollo apps, which are not seven different apps
Captain Cooks, Casino Classic, Golden Tiger, Grand Mondial, Luxury Casino, Yukon Gold and Zodiac are all published in Ontario by Apollo Entertainment Ltd. They are not competing brands with competing apps — they are one platform in seven skins, and the store listings prove it.
On iPhone, six of the seven were on version 3.1.3, every one of them weighs 38 to 40 MB, and all seven require iOS 16.0. Golden Tiger was the only one that had moved to 3.2.0. On Android the pattern is even plainer: six of the seven Play listings were last updated on the same day, 14 August 2026, with Golden Tiger again the outlier at 18 August. That is the signature of a shared codebase, not seven development teams.
Where they differ is audience size, and it is not where the marketing would suggest. On iOS, Yukon Gold has 1,030 ratings and Casino Classic has 72 — the same product, fourteen times the reach. On Android, Grand Mondial and Luxury Casino have passed 50,000 installs against 1,000+ for Casino Classic. Luxury Casino has the deepest history — online since 2001 — and ranked 16th in the Canadian App Store’s Casino chart when we checked.
The scores are effectively identical, which is what you would expect: 4.59, 4.55, 4.54, 4.53, 4.53 and 4.40 across the group on iOS. If you are choosing between them, the app is not the deciding factor — the withdrawal terms and the payout speed are. One documentation slip worth flagging: Grand Mondial’s two store creatives print different licence numbers for the same app.

Casino App vs Betting App: How Many Will You Install?
“Casino app” and “betting app” are not the same question in Ontario, because operators solve it three different ways, and which one you are dealing with decides how many apps end up on your phone.
One app for everything. BetRivers, Betano and PowerPlay put casino and sportsbook in a single download. Betano’s carries casino, live casino, sportsbook and virtuals together — there is no separate Betano casino app, and looking for one will only find you the wrong thing.
Two apps, deliberately split. BetMGM and bet365 ship the casino as its own app. With bet365 there is a third piece most reviews never mention: two-step login requires the separate bet365 Authenticator app, and that one rates 1.3. You will be installing it regardless of what you think of it.
Three apps. bwin is registered for casino, poker and sports betting at once and delivers all three as separate downloads — on.bwin.casino, on.bwin.sports and on.bwin.poker on Apple, with different identifiers again on Google Play, where the casino app is bwin.ca.casino. Note that the iOS casino app is titled “bwin Online Casino Games” without the word Ontario, while the sportsbook is titled “bwin Ontario Sports Betting”. Both are published by Entain Operations Limited on iOS.
DraftKings also splits casino from sportsbook, and it publishes enough for a real size comparison: the combined Sportsbook & Casino app is 339.6 MB, the casino-only app 187.4 MB. Both need iOS 16.2. If storage is tight, that is a difference you can feel.
How to Avoid Downloading the Wrong Casino App in Ontario
The single most useful thing we found is not a rating. It is that searching an operator’s name in the Canadian stores frequently returns something that is not the Ontario product. These are the cases we confirmed:
- Royal Panda has no app we could find. Nothing in the Canadian App Store, nothing on Google Play Canada, and the site’s own “Social & Apps” footer block contains no app badges. The help centre nevertheless states that an iOS app exists. The mobile browser runs the full lobby, live tables included.
- bwin — searching “bwin” also returns the international sportsbook app, which is not the Ontario product. Look for “Ontario” in the title or
on.bwinin the iOS identifier, and Entain Operations Limited as the publisher. - Sports Interaction — two further official apps use almost the same name on Google Play Canada: one is live scores, one is a legacy build. The one you want is titled Sports Interaction Sportsbook. Note that the publisher differs by platform: Avid Ecom Solutions Limited on iOS, ElectraWorks Limited on Google Play. Both are Entain entities.
- NorthStar Bets — install NorthStar Bets Ontario, published by NorthStar Gaming (Ontario) Inc. A second app, NorthStar Bets Canada, is published by Slapshot Media Inc. and serves a site that is not part of the AGCO-regulated Ontario market.
- ComeOn — on Google Play the listing correctly states 19+ and Ontario only. The Canadian App Store listing, ComeOn! Casino Online & Bet by Co-Gaming Ltd, makes no mention of Ontario or the AGCO anywhere in its description.
- SpinAway — searching the name in the Canadian App Store returns unrelated consumer apps and no casino. The real one is
ca.spinaway.appon Android; there is no iPhone app, so on iOS you play in the browser. - Lucky Days — there are two apps from the same publisher, L7 Entertainment Limited. The current one is Lucky Days – Ontario & Alberta, on version 1.9.0 with 207 iOS ratings. The older Lucky Days Casino – Canada is still listed on version 1.8.0 with 32 ratings.
Every Apollo brand has a lookalike in the Canadian stores
This is the finding we did not expect. Search any of the Apollo casino brands in the Canadian stores and a similarly named app from a completely different company appears alongside the real one — in the case of Casino Classic, above it on both platforms. None of these are the Ontario casino.

Casino Classic is the clearest case, and it is worse on Android than on iPhone: on Google Play Canada the AppGenius Labs app is the first result and the real Apollo app is not on the opening row at all.
The rule is simple, and it held in every case we checked: the Ontario app has “Ontario” in its title and Apollo Entertainment Ltd as its publisher. If either is missing, it is not the casino you were looking for.
And one case where the operator has not made up its own mind: PlayOJO has an app in both stores, updated regularly, published by Skill On Net Ltd and rated 3.96 from 4,133 Canadian ratings — but the Ontario site marks both apps as unavailable in its own configuration, and the operator’s iOS and Android pages give browser-shortcut instructions instead of a download link, while the help centre links to both stores. The browser works either way.
Brands people search for that are not registered in Ontario
Some of the most searched “Ontario app” brand names belong to casinos that are not on the iGaming Ontario register. They are absent from every table on this page for that reason, not because we could not find their app:
- Unibet — withdrew from the regulated Ontario market. Any app or site carrying the name today is outside the AGCO framework, which means no recourse to Ontario authorities if a dispute arises.
- Casimba — not on the iGO register. The same applies.
- Betsafe and Casumo — also absent from the register.
Our reviews of those brands carry the full disclosure. If you want the regulated equivalents, they are the operators in the comparison table above.
The reliable check takes ten seconds: before you install anything, confirm the publisher name against the iGaming Ontario operator directory. If the publisher is not on that list, the app is not the Ontario product, whatever the icon looks like.
Will the App Run on Your Phone?
Ontario operators set very different floors for iOS — from 15.0 to 18.0. That three-version spread is the detail that decides whether an older iPhone can play at all, and almost no comparison page publishes it.

The spread is wider than it looks. An iPhone stuck on iOS 15 can run Betano, bet365 and PlayOJO and nothing else on this list; an iPhone on iOS 17 can run everything except BetMGM, Sports Interaction and bwin.
Android requirements: what the Canadian Play listings show
Google no longer publishes a minimum Android version on the public listing, so the useful Android figures are the package identifier, the rating and its sample, the install band and the last update. All were read from Google Play Canada. Remember that Play ratings and installs are worldwide totals, not Canadian ones.

Two things stand out. SpinAway is the only brand here that exists on Android and not on iPhone. And the six Apollo listings sharing a 14 August update date are the same release pushed to six brands at once — further confirmation that they are one product, not seven.
Best Ontario casino apps for older iPhones
Betano, bet365 Casino and PlayOJO have the lowest iOS floor at 15.0, with Jackpot City at 15.1 just behind. If your iPhone has not been updated in a few years, those four are where to start — and Betano is the only one of them that includes a sportsbook in the same download.
At the other end, BetMGM, Sports Interaction and bwin all require iOS 18.0, three full major versions above Betano. If your phone cannot reach that, the mobile browser is the route in.
Storage is the second constraint, and it does not track the iOS floor at all. Betano needs only iOS 15 but weighs 307.9 MB, while bet365 Casino needs the same iOS 15 and weighs 27.2 MB. On a full phone, Lucky Days at 15.8 MB, PlayOJO at 25.4 MB and bet365 Casino at 27.2 MB are the light options.
App vs Mobile Browser in Ontario
An app is not automatically the better product, and for several Ontario operators there is no app to choose. Here is what actually differs:

In short: the app wins on convenience and notifications, the browser wins on storage, compatibility and never needing an update. For several Ontario operators the browser is not a fallback — it is the official product, and the operator publishes no app at all on that platform.
Do Royal Panda and SpinAway have an Ontario app?
Royal Panda has no app on either store, and SpinAway has one on Android only. We searched both names on the Canadian App Store and on Google Play from a Canadian connection: Royal Panda returns unrelated social casino games on both platforms, and SpinAway returns nothing on iPhone. Royal Panda’s own help centre still refers to an iOS app we could not find.
That is not a problem to work around. Both run the full lobby in the mobile browser, live tables included, and Royal Panda’s 4,020-game catalogue is the largest of any brand on this page. For these two operators the browser is the official Ontario product, and any “Royal Panda app” you find in a store is somebody else’s software.
When the browser is the better choice
Jackpot City on Android. The iPhone app holds 4.5 from 23,257 Canadian ratings. The same casino on Google Play Canada scores 4.1 from about 1,590. That is roughly fifteen times the sample on iPhone and better rated, so on Android it is worth trying the browser version before you commit storage to the app.
Any iPhone below iOS 15. Nothing on this list will install. The browser is the only way in.
Zodiac and Yukon Gold on a computer. Neither is really a browser casino on desktop — the main route is still a downloadable client, and Zodiac’s own FAQ opens by telling you to download the casino software. Luxury Casino ships a Windows client too.

The one caveat is its iOS 16.4 floor.

Every available app we evaluated was checked on the Canadian App Store and/or Google Play Canada from a Canadian connection. We recorded the publisher name, version number, last update date, package identifier, minimum OS, file size, star rating and the number of ratings behind it. Where an operator had no app on a platform, we recorded that too — and said so rather than leaving the row blank.
App Store and Google Play figures, including ratings, rating counts, versions, minimum iOS, file sizes and update dates, were all read off the Canadian storefronts. Minimum deposits and game counts are operator-published figures and are labelled as such.
