About Online Casino Ontario

OnlineCasinoOntario.bet is an independent guide to the online casinos that are licensed to operate in Ontario. We do not take bets and we do not run a casino. We read the operators’ own terms, count their game lobbies, check them against the provincial register, and publish what we find — including, quite often, that the operator publishes nothing at all.

Why this site exists

Ontario is the only province in Canada with a regulated, competitive online gambling market. Since it opened in April 2022, private operators have been able to accept real-money wagers legally from people in the province, provided they are registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and hold an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. For players that was a real improvement: money now sits with companies that answer to a regulator here, rather than to one on another continent.

It also created a harder question, which is how to choose between them. Most of what is published to help with that choice does not help much. Comparison pages tend to rank by welcome offer, repeat whatever game count the operator advertises, and describe every withdrawal as “fast”. In Ontario the first of those is not even permitted — affiliate sites may not advertise gambling inducements at all. A site that ranks Ontario casinos by their bonus has not read the rules it is inviting you to gamble under, which is worth knowing before you trust the rest of its content.

So we built this site on the parts that can actually be checked: what an operator commits to in writing, what is really in the lobby, and whether the company named on the website is the company named in the register.

What you will find here

  • 43 casino reviews. Thirty-two cover brands registered with iGaming Ontario. Eleven cover brands that are not registered — we keep those, because people search for them and deserve to be told plainly where they stand, but they are never ranked against licensed operators.
  • A ranking of the best online casinos in Ontario, built from five sub-scores rather than from an offer.
  • An app comparison that checks each app’s publisher against the entity in the register, and its rating in the Canadian stores.
  • A responsible gambling guide covering the limits, timeouts and self-exclusion tools every registered operator has to give you, and the free help available in Ontario.
  • Our method, in full. How We Review Casinos sets out what moves each score, the rules we hold ourselves to, and the limits of what we can tell you.

What the work looks like in practice

The short version of this section, on almost every affiliate site, is that experts test each casino thoroughly. That sentence carries no information. Here are three findings instead, all of which came out of doing the boring part.

The industry figure for Betway’s Ontario catalogue was two hundred games, repeated for years — including, at one point, on this site. The real lobby holds 1,657. 888 Casino makes the opposite error against itself, advertising “100+” slots in its own app on a catalogue of 1,942. And of the registered brands we have reviewed, exactly one publishes a withdrawal processing target it can be held to: PlayOJO, at eleven hours. The rest say “fast”, or say nothing.

None of that is difficult. It just takes counting instead of copying, and a willingness to write not published in a table when an operator has published nothing, rather than filling the gap with an average.

Who publishes this site

OnlineCasinoOntario.bet is published by Gambling Digital Marketing, a company based in Lisbon that runs casino and sports betting comparison sites in regulated markets in Europe, South America and North America. Each market gets its own site and its own rules, because the rules genuinely differ: what a comparison site may publish in Ontario is much narrower than what it may publish in most of Europe.

Reviews are researched and written from primary sources only — the operator’s own pages, the Canadian app store listings, and the iGaming Ontario register — and every brand’s registration is re-checked before a page is updated, because operators join the register and leave it. Where a figure comes from a count we made rather than from a published statement, the page says so.

How the site is funded, and what that does not buy

Some of our outbound links are commercial: if you open an account with an operator after following one, that operator may pay us a commission. There is no cost to you, and it is the only way the site earns anything. We think you should know that before you read a single rating, which is why it is on this page, in our Terms of Use, and in the method.

What commission does not buy is a position. No operator can pay for a score, a rank, or inclusion in a list, and the ranking is identical whether or not a commercial relationship exists. We review brands we earn nothing from, including several we advise readers to avoid, and we have marked down operators we do have a relationship with — for contradicting themselves on their own banking pages, among other things. A comparison site whose ratings track its commercial deals is worth nothing to a reader, and not much to an operator either.

We also publish no bonus offers at all. That is not modesty: under the AGCO’s Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming, inducements, bonuses and credits may not be advertised publicly, and the exemption that lets operators show them on their own channels does not extend to us. You will see the offers after you register with an operator, where the rules allow them to be shown to you directly.

What we are not

  • Not an operator. You cannot deposit, wager, or hold an account with us.
  • Not a regulator, and not connected to one. We have no affiliation with the AGCO, iGaming Ontario or OLG.
  • Not a dispute service. If a registered operator refuses a withdrawal or locks an account, the path is the operator’s complaints process and then the AGCO. We cannot intervene, and we would be misleading you if we implied otherwise.
  • Not a source of financial, legal or tax advice.

Tell us when we are wrong

Operators change minimums, processing times and catalogues without announcing it, and a page that is right in one month can be wrong in the next. We would rather hear about a mistake than leave it standing. Send us the page and the figure through the contact page or to info@onlinecasinoontario.bet, and we will check it against the operator’s current published terms and correct it in place — in the review and in the ranking, so the site does not end up holding two versions of the same fact.
