Is PowerPlay Legal in Ontario?

Yes. PowerPlay is authorised to operate in Ontario. The operator is listed in the iGaming Ontario register as Trillium Ventures Limited (dba) PowerPlay, with one approved site — listed there as Play Power Play — covering both casino and sports betting.

That register is the thing worth checking. It currently lists 48 operators and 83 gaming websites, accurate as of August 6, 2026, and PowerPlay’s single entry points to one address only: on.powerplay.com.

On a registered site your account, your funds and any dispute fall under the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. On a grey-market site they do not, however familiar the branding looks.

Two PowerPlays, Two Companies

Most Ontario casinos run a single company behind one brand. PowerPlay does not, and the distinction is unusually sharp.

The Ontario casino is operated by Trillium Ventures Limited, a Malta-registered company whose address appears on its own app store listings as Level 0, Suite 1010, Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa, St Julian’s. That is the entity in the iGO register, and the one the AGCO holds responsible.

The PowerPlay serving the rest of Canada is a different company entirely. Its footer names Deck Entertainment B.V., incorporated in Curacao under company number 144851 and licensed by the Curacao Gaming Authority under licence OGL/2024/999/0482, with a payment processor registered in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The offshore site makes the split explicit in its own footer, which offers province pages for Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon and Nunavut. Ontario is the one province deliberately missing from that list, because Ontario players are meant to be on the registered site instead.

One loose thread is worth knowing about. The Google Play listing for the Ontario app gives its developer website as powerplay.com/ontario — an address that returns a 404 page on the offshore site. Nothing about that is dangerous, but a player following the official link from the store lands on the wrong company’s error page rather than the regulated casino.

The shape of that catalogue tells you who PowerPlay buys from. This is a Playtech house first and a Pragmatic Play house second, with a thinner tail of other studios than you get at the largest Ontario casinos. Under 200 ratings across both stores is a very small sample, and it cuts both ways: 3.8 is a respectable score, but it rests on far less evidence than the four-figure rating counts at BetMGM or DraftKings. Both apps are actively maintained — each was updated within the past two weeks at the time of this review.

Two details are worth flagging because they are factual and easy to verify. Both stores classify the app as 18+, while the legal age to play in Ontario is 19; the app’s own description states the 19 requirement correctly, so this is a store metadata mismatch rather than a rule the operator applies. And the App Store description points players seeking help to Gambling Therapy, a UK service, where the Google Play description correctly points to ConnexOntario.
