Best Paying Online Casinos in Ontario: RTP Compared, Game by Game

Best Paying Online Casinos in Ontario

The best paying online casino in Ontario is not a casino with a better random number generator. It is the one that installs the higher-paying version of each game. We read 16,850 published RTP figures across five Ontario lobbies in October 2026, and found the same slots paying up to five points more at one casino than at another: Book of Dead publishes 96.21% at FanDuel and 91.00% at PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie.

Ranked by the average return of their slots, the five come out at 95.02% (FanDuel), 94.54% (NorthStar Bets), 94.48% (PlayFallsview), 93.71% (the SkillOnNet brands) and 93.33% (Stardust). This page shows where those numbers come from, which games make the difference, what every other Ontario casino publishes about payouts, and which “payout percentage” rankings you should not trust. If you are looking for the casinos that pay out fastest rather than most, that is a different question, answered in our guide to instant withdrawal casinos in Ontario.

How to use this page: if you already play at one of the five casinos, go straight to its list of highest-paying slots and to the list of what to avoid there. If you have a favourite game, find it in the popular-slots table and play it where its best version runs. If you have not chosen a casino, start with the ranking, then check withdrawal speed and the review of the casino you lean towards before you register.

Best paying online casinos in Ontario, October 2026. RTP = return to player, the theoretical share of stakes a game pays back over the long run.

Two rows matter most. A casino’s average is mostly the sum of its RTP choices: FanDuel does not offer different games, it offers higher-paying versions of the same games. And more than half of the titles the five casinos share are set at different returns, which means the casino you open matters even when you already know which game you want.

What “Best Paying” Means in Ontario

People use “best paying” for three different things, and only one of them is a property of the casino you can check in advance.

MeaningWhat it measuresCan you check it before you play?
Return to player (RTP)The theoretical share of stakes a game pays back, set by the studio and chosen by the casinoYes, at casinos that publish it
Actual payoutWhat a game has really paid back over a periodOnly at Mr Vegas, for its most popular games
Payout speedHow quickly your withdrawal reaches youPartly — see our instant-withdrawal guide
Three meanings of “best paying”, and which one this page ranks.

This page ranks the first one, because it is the one that decides how much of your money comes back over time. RTP is set by the studio that makes the game, but most studios release the same game in several RTP versions — 96%, 94%, 92% and so on — and each casino chooses which one to install. That choice is the single biggest difference between a “high payout” casino and a low one.

Actual payouts are a different measure. Mr Vegas is the only Ontario casino we found that publishes what its games have really paid, updated daily: on 12 October 2026 its page showed Lightning Roulette at 97.1%, Book of Dead at 92.8%, Gates of Olympus at 94.0% and Speed Baccarat A at 100.3%. Over short periods those figures swing well above and below the theoretical RTP, so they tell you what happened rather than what to expect — but nobody else in the province shows you even that.

The Best Paying Online Casinos in Ontario, Ranked by Published RTP

Five Ontario casino lobbies publish an RTP figure for every game they run, which lets us rank them on the same basis. The ranking uses the average and median RTP of each casino’s slots, because slots are most of every lobby and the category where the casino’s choice of version varies most.

Ontario casinos ranked by the average RTP they publish for their slots, read from Toronto in October 2026. The SkillOnNet catalogue is shared by PlayOJO, SlotsMagic, Spin Genie and Knightslots.

FanDuel leads by a clear margin. Its average slot returns 95.02%, a third of its slots publish 96% or more, and only 7.4% fall below 94%. The gap to the next casino looks small — half a point — but over thousands of spins half a point is real money, and the gap on individual games is much larger.

NorthStar Bets and PlayFallsview sit close together at about 94.5%. NorthStar’s slots are tightly clustered — only 6.2% reach 96% but just 5.2% fall under 94% — while PlayFallsview has more high-RTP titles and more low ones.

The SkillOnNet catalogue behind PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie averages 93.71%, and 42.7% of its slots publish under 94%. Stardust is last at 93.33%, with more than half its slots under 94%. In both cases the cause is the version of the big European studios’ games: Play’n GO, Red Tiger and Games Global titles at their lower settings.

Three caveats keep the ranking honest. It covers the five casinos that publish a figure for every game; the others are discussed below. An average describes the whole shelf, not the game you will play, so the per-game sections matter more. And RTP is a long-run average: no figure on this page predicts what one session will pay.

Average Published RTP by Game Type

The game type decides the return far more than the casino does. Here is the average published RTP of every category at each of the five casinos, with the number of games behind it.

Average published RTP by game type and casino, October 2026 (number of games in brackets). Live tables are covered in our live casino guide.

Blackjack, baccarat and video poker all average between 98% and 99% everywhere, and roulette between 96.3% and 97.4%, the spread reflecting how many American double-zero wheels each casino carries. Slots average 93% to 95%. If you play a mix, moving even part of your play from slots to blackjack or video poker changes your expected cost more than switching casinos.

How RTP Is Set, Tested and Chosen

Every slot starts as a mathematical model. The studio decides the symbols, the reel strips, the paytable and the features, and the model determines what share of all stakes the game will pay back over millions of rounds. That share is the RTP. Change the paytable or the reel strips slightly and the same game, with the same art and features, returns a different figure.

Most large studios release their popular games in several such versions — commonly around 96%, 94% and 92%, sometimes lower — and test each one through independent laboratories before it can be offered in a regulated market. In Ontario, the games must come from suppliers registered with the AGCO and meet the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming. The laboratory confirms that each version pays what it says; it does not tell the casino which version to use.

That choice is commercial. A casino that installs a 91% version keeps, on average, nine cents of every dollar staked instead of four. Lower versions help an operator pay for marketing, sponsorships or large game libraries; higher versions are a way to compete for players who check. Neither is a breach of any rule. What is different between casinos is whether they let you see the choice before you play.

The Same Slot Pays Differently at Different Casinos

This is the finding that matters most. We matched every slot that appears in at least two of the five lobbies — 4,209 titles — and compared the RTP each casino publishes. 1,647 are set identically everywhere. 2,260 differ by half a point or more between casinos, and on some the gap is five to eight points.

Read the table by studio and a pattern appears. Play’n GO games — Book of Dead, Reactoonz, Legacy of Dead, Fire Joker, Rise of Olympus — publish around 96.2% to 96.6% at FanDuel and around 91% at the SkillOnNet brands and Stardust. Play’n GO ships its games in several RTP settings, and the two casinos chose opposite ends. NetEnt classics show the same split: Starburst publishes 96.09% at FanDuel and PlayFallsview and 92.05% at the SkillOnNet brands; Blood Suckers runs from 97.99% at FanDuel to 90.04%.

Pragmatic Play is the exception. Gates of Olympus publishes 94.50% at all four casinos that carry it, Sweet Bonanza 95.45% and The Dog House 95.51% wherever they appear. If you play Pragmatic titles, the casino makes little difference to the return; if you play Play’n GO, Red Tiger or NetEnt, it can make a large one.

What does five points mean in money? On $1 spins, Book of Dead at 91.00% costs an average of $9.00 per 100 spins; at 96.21% it costs $3.79. Same game, same graphics, same bonus round — and more than twice the expected cost. The only way to see which version you have is the information panel inside the game, which is why the next section matters.

No casino has the best version of everything — which is the practical argument for checking the panel on every game rather than trusting any casino’s reputation.

Average published slot RTP by studio and casino, October 2026 (number of slots in brackets). Studios with fewer than ten slots at a casino are shown as “—”.

Four studios account for most of the difference between the top and bottom of the ranking. Play’n GO averages 95.12% at FanDuel against 91.55% at the SkillOnNet brands and 91.26% at Stardust. Hacksaw averages 95.94% at FanDuel and 92.63% at the SkillOnNet brands. IGT averages 95.81% at FanDuel and 92.81% at the SkillOnNet brands. Red Tiger is low everywhere we found it — 93.54% at best, 90.88% at Stardust.

Some studios barely move. Inspired, Greentube and ELK publish within a few tenths of a point at every casino; Pragmatic Play varies by half a point. For those studios, choose the casino on other grounds. For Play’n GO, Hacksaw, IGT and NetEnt, the casino is part of the price.

Studio by Studio: Who Ships Which Versions

Studios decide which RTP settings exist; casinos choose among them. Knowing a studio’s habits tells you how much the casino matters for its games.

Play’n GO

The studio behind Book of Dead, Reactoonz, Fire Joker, Legacy of Dead and Moon Princess releases most games in several settings, and in Ontario the gap is the widest of any major studio: 95.12% on average at FanDuel, 91.55% at the SkillOnNet brands, 91.26% at Stardust. If you play Play’n GO, the casino is worth about four points.

NetEnt and Red Tiger

Both now belong to Evolution. NetEnt classics vary sharply — Starburst 96.09% or 92.05%, Blood Suckers 97.99% down to 90.04% — while Gonzo’s Quest publishes 96% at every casino we checked. Red Tiger is low across the board in Ontario: its best casino average is 93.54% at FanDuel, its worst 90.88% at Stardust, and Moon Spell runs from 98.69% to 90.71%.

Pragmatic Play

Pragmatic is the most consistent large studio in the province. Gates of Olympus 94.50%, Sweet Bonanza 95.45% and The Dog House 95.51% are identical wherever they appear, and its casino averages sit within half a point of each other. For Pragmatic games, pick your casino on anything but RTP.

Hacksaw Gaming

Hacksaw’s Ontario average is 95.94% at FanDuel, 94.29% at NorthStar Bets and 92.63% at the SkillOnNet brands — a three-point spread on games known for very high volatility, where the lower setting bites hardest over a short session.

IGT, Light & Wonder and the land-based studios

IGT averages 95.81% at FanDuel and 92.81% at the SkillOnNet brands. Light & Wonder, which includes Barcrest and WMS, has the province’s best cluster of high-RTP slots — Dr Jekyll Goes Wild at 98.20% everywhere it appears — but also many land-based ports at 93–94%. Konami ranges from 95.51% at FanDuel to 92.23% at Stardust. AGS and Everi sit around 94–95%.

Games Global

Games Global supplies the largest shelf in several Ontario lobbies and averages 92.53% at the SkillOnNet brands and 92.83% at Stardust. Its Ontario-only Maple Moolah jackpot titles are lower still, because part of every stake funds the pot — Immortal Romance Maple Moolah publishes 86.73% at the SkillOnNet brands.

Relax Gaming, Big Time Gaming and the high-RTP specialists

Relax Gaming has the most games at 98% in the province — Money Train 2, Money Cart 2, Dead Man’s Trail, 3 Secret Cities, Marching Legions — and averages 94.90% at the SkillOnNet brands. Big Time Gaming averages 95.5% to 96.4% everywhere. Evoplay, High 5 and Playson also average above 95.5% at the casinos that carry them.

Inspired, Greentube, ELK and the steady middle

Inspired, Greentube and ELK publish almost the same figures at every casino — within a few tenths of a point. They are rarely the highest-paying games in a lobby, but they are never the worst version of themselves either.

The Five Casinos That Publish Every RTP

These are the Ontario lobbies that put a return figure on every game, which is what made the ranking possible. Each has a different profile, and each has games worth seeking out.

FanDuel: the highest-paying versions

FanDuel publishes an RTP for all 3,814 games in its Ontario lobby, and its slots average 95.02% — the highest of the five, with a median of 95.00%. 34.1% of its slots publish 96% or more. The reason is visible studio by studio: FanDuel runs the higher-RTP versions of Play’n GO, NetEnt, Hacksaw and IGT games. Book of Dead at 96.21%, Reactoonz at 96.51%, Legacy of Dead at 96.58%, Starburst at 96.09% and Blood Suckers at 97.99% are among the best published versions of those games in the province.

Its table games are strong too: blackjack averages 98.66% across 78 tables, with Blackjack Single Deck at 99.85%, and IGT’s Super Times Pay video poker publishes 99.92% in its multi-hand versions. FanDuel has no published review on this site yet; we cover its licence, apps and cashier separately.

NorthStar Bets: consistent, not spectacular

NorthStar Bets does not show RTP on its public lobby tiles, but its Ontario game configuration carries a figure for 1,202 of its 1,471 games, and that is what we used. Its slots average 94.54% and are unusually tightly grouped: only 5.2% fall below 94%, the smallest share of the five, but only 6.2% reach 96%. Its blackjack averages 99.19% — the highest table average we measured — led by Premium Blackjack at 99.57%. Full review: NorthStar Bets Ontario.

PlayFallsview: the Niagara floor online

PlayFallsview publishes a figure for 2,595 of its 2,603 games. Its slots average 94.48%; 17.7% reach 96% and 18.7% fall under 94%. The land-based studios behind its catalogue split both ways: Evoplay, High 5 and Big Time Gaming average above 95.5%, while IGT (93.91%) and Red Tiger (92.92%) pull the average down. Its strongest shelves are table games and video poker — Blackjack Single Deck at 99.87% and First Person Video Poker at 99.54%.

PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie: the widest choice, at lower settings

The SkillOnNet catalogue is the largest in Ontario — 6,185 titles, all but a handful with a published RTP — and the four brands that share it (PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie and Knightslots) publish more about their games than any other operator. Its slots average 93.71%, and 42.7% sit below 94%, because it carries the lower-RTP versions of Play’n GO (91.55%), Red Tiger (91.52%) and Games Global (92.53%) titles. The flip side is choice: it also has the province’s single highest-published slot we found, Joker Super Reels at 98.79%, and a long Relax Gaming shelf at 98%. On these brands, the published RTP is the most useful filter you have — use it.

Stardust: check every game

Stardust publishes a figure for 3,061 of its 3,072 games, and its slots average 93.33%, the lowest of the five: more than half fall under 94%. Play’n GO averages 91.26% here and Red Tiger 90.88%. Yet Stardust has some of the best table returns in the province — Multi Hand Classic Blackjack at 99.91% and Jacks or Better video poker at 99.54% — and the same Barcrest 98% slots as the others. It is a casino where the game you pick matters more than anywhere else.

How each casino’s slots are distributed

An average can hide a long tail. This table shows what share of each casino’s slots falls in each RTP band.

Share of each casino’s slots by published RTP band, October 2026.

The difference between the top and the bottom of the ranking is almost entirely in the two outer columns. At FanDuel, 32% of slots publish 96–97% and barely one in a hundred falls under 92%. At Stardust and the SkillOnNet brands, one slot in ten publishes under 92% — 553 titles at Stardust and 539 in the SkillOnNet catalogue. NorthStar Bets puts almost nine slots in ten in the 94–96% band: few highs, very few lows.

What to Avoid at Each Casino

Every casino has strong and weak shelves. These are the ones that pull each average down, so you can steer around them.

At FanDuel

Red Tiger is FanDuel’s weakest large studio at 93.54% on average, and a handful of games carry versions at 90%, such as Eagle’s Flight Power Bet, which publishes 96% at PlayFallsview. Everything else is above the provincial norm.

At the SkillOnNet brands

Play’n GO (91.55%), Red Tiger (91.52%), Games Global (92.53%) and Hacksaw (92.63%) are the shelves to check game by game. The same lobby’s Relax Gaming, Big Time Gaming, Evoplay and Wazdan shelves average above 95%.

At Stardust

Red Tiger (90.88%), Play’n GO (91.26%) and Konami (92.23%) are the lowest averages we measured anywhere. Stardust’s Barcrest, NetEnt and Big Time Gaming shelves, and its blackjack and video poker, are among the best in Ontario.

At PlayFallsview

Red Tiger (92.92%) and IGT (93.91%) pull the average down; Evoplay, High 5, Playson and Big Time Gaming lift it. Its blackjack and video poker tables are excellent.

At NorthStar Bets

There is little to avoid — the shelf is tightly grouped — but Konami and Games Global titles average about 94.0%, the low end of an otherwise even catalogue.

What Every Other Ontario Casino Publishes About Payouts

Most Ontario casinos do not put an RTP on every game in the lobby. That does not make them worse payers — the version installed is what counts — but it does mean you have to open each game to find out. Here is what each one tells you, and where.

What Ontario casinos publish about game returns, from our reviews, October 2026.

Mr Vegas: actual payouts, not just theory

Mr Vegas runs the only page in Ontario that shows what games have actually paid back, updated every day and filterable by period. It is the closest thing to a scoreboard any operator here publishes. Use it as information about the recent past: over a few days a game can pay 100.3%, as Speed Baccarat A did when we looked, or several points below its RTP, and neither tells you what the next session will do.

LeoVegas: transparency that shows low numbers

LeoVegas used to print an RTP on every Canadian game page, and the figures it showed were not flattering: Immortal Romance at 94.12% against the studio’s reference 96.86%, Buffalo King Megaways at 89.49–89.54%, 12 Masks of Fire Drums at 86.77%. By October 2026 its Ontario pages no longer show the figure, so you need to open the game rules. The lesson applies everywhere: a casino that publishes RTP is not necessarily a high-RTP casino.

Betano: a band and a filter

Betano publishes a 94–98% band for its slots and is one of very few Ontario lobbies with a High RTP filter. A band is not a per-game figure, but combined with the filter it is the fastest way to narrow 5,279 slots to the better-paying ones before you check the exact number in the game.

Betway: one average for the whole casino

Betway gives a single average expected RTP of 94.36% in its help centre and tells you to find each game’s figure under Help inside the game. More than half of its slot floor comes from Games Global, whose titles averaged 92.53% at the SkillOnNet brands and 92.83% at Stardust — so check the panel on each one.

The Apollo casinos and the “RTP Guarantee”

Golden Tiger, Captain Cooks, Casino Classic, Grand Mondial, Luxury, Yukon Gold and Zodiac all make the same promise under different names — “RTP Guarantee”, “Highest Win Rate Guarantee”, “Best Odds Guarantee”: “we guarantee to ALWAYS offer the highest available RTP version of every game, typically ranging between 96% and 99.9%.” It is an unusually candid admission of how the industry works, and it is the right promise. We could not verify it from the lobby, which does not show RTP. The group also links an eCOGRA Payout Percentage Report — 96.14% across all games for April to June 2026 — but that report covers sixteen Casino Rewards brands, most of them outside Ontario.

Casinos that publish nothing

BetRivers, Jackpot City and BetVictor publish no RTP on any public Ontario page. BetRivers’ help article on game rules even sends you to a Pennsylvania page. These casinos show the figure only inside each game, after you have registered and deposited. That is legal — the game must still display its rules — but it means you cannot compare them before you join, and it is why they cannot appear in our ranking.

What would make the ranking fairer is simple: more casinos publishing the RTP of every game in the lobby, as five already do. Until then, the most useful habit is the same at every casino — open the game’s information panel before your first spin.

888 Casino: volatility instead of RTP

888 does not publish RTP in its Ontario lobby, but it does publish something almost nobody else does: a volatility figure on 1,366 games. Volatility is the other half of how a game pays — how unevenly — and on a site where you cannot compare returns in advance, it is the most useful number on the tile. Check the RTP in the game panel; use the volatility to choose the kind of session you want. Review: 888 Casino Ontario.

bet365: the paytable is inside the game

bet365 publishes no return-to-player figure on any of its Ontario pages; the paytable, and the RTP with it, sits inside the game client. Its catalogue runs to 2,536 titles, so the habit that matters is simple: open the information panel before the first spin of any slot you know from another casino, and compare. Review: bet365 Ontario.

DraftKings: one published figure

DraftKings publishes one RTP publicly, for Rocket, its in-house crash game: 97% with a maximum multiplier of 1,000x. It is one of the best stated returns in the province, but a crash-game RTP assumes you cash out at the right moment; it is not a slot. For everything else, the figure is in the game. Review: DraftKings Ontario.

PowerPlay and ComeOn: nothing in the lobby

PowerPlay does not publish per-game RTP, and ComeOn shows none in its Ontario lobby. Both run mainstream studios — Playtech at PowerPlay, Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO and Evolution at ComeOn — so the versions they install decide the return, and only the game panel tells you which one you have.

If you have a favourite game, this is the table to bookmark. For each of the most-played slots in Ontario lobbies, the casino publishing the highest version among the five, and how much lower the worst version is.

The highest published slot RTPs in Ontario, October 2026. Figures are what each casino publishes for its own version.

Three things stand out. Relax Gaming is the studio to look for: Money Train 2, Money Cart 2, Dead Man’s Trail, 3 Secret Cities and Marching Legions all publish 98% or more at the SkillOnNet brands. Barcrest, the British studio now part of Light & Wonder, has a cluster of 98% games — Dr Jekyll Goes Wild, Reel ’em In Lobster Potty, Mighty Black Knight, Hercules High and Mighty — at several casinos. And the famous names are not on the list: the slots everyone plays sit between 94% and 96.5% even in their best versions.

High RTP does not mean frequent wins. Several of these are high-volatility games that pay rarely and in larger amounts; the return is a long-run average across all players. Our guide to online slots in Ontario covers volatility and maximum wins game by game.

How blackjack rules move the published figure

Two blackjack tables can publish 99.85% and 99.30% because their rules differ, not because one casino is more generous. Rules that help the player: fewer decks, the dealer standing on soft 17, doubling after a split, and late surrender. Rules that hurt: a 6:5 payout for blackjack instead of 3:2, the dealer hitting soft 17, and restrictions on doubling. The published RTP already includes all of them, which is why reading it is quicker than reading the rules.

Video poker paytables

Video poker is the clearest case of the same game at different returns. Jacks or Better with the full “9/6” paytable — nine coins for a full house, six for a flush — returns 99.54% with correct play, which is exactly what Stardust publishes. The “8/5” version returns 97.30% and the “7/5” version 96.15%. The machines look identical; the paytable on the screen, or the published RTP, tells you which one you are playing.

Roulette bets

On a single-zero wheel every standard bet carries the same 2.70% house edge, whether you bet on red or on a single number. On an American wheel the edge is 5.26%, and the five-number bet on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 is worse still at 7.89%. French rules halve the edge on even-money bets. The wheel, not the bet, decides most of the return.

Live Casino Returns

Live dealer games publish their own figures: live blackjack averages about 99% in the catalogue that publishes every table, live baccarat about 98%, live roulette about 97%, and game shows 95% to 98.75%. The same game can publish different figures at different tables — Free Bet Blackjack at 99.17% and 96.80% in the same lobby. The full breakdown is in our guide to live casino in Ontario.

Jackpot Slots and RTP

Progressive jackpot slots pay part of every stake into the pot, so their base-game RTP is lower. The published figures show it plainly: Immortal Romance Maple Moolah publishes 86.73% at the SkillOnNet brands and 92.03% at Stardust, against 92.10% for the plain Immortal Romance at the SkillOnNet brands. If you are playing for the jackpot, that is the price of the ticket; if you are playing for return, choose the non-jackpot version.

Provincial Jackpots and the Cost of the Pot

Ontario has its own progressive networks — Games Global’s Maple Moolah and King Millions among them — that pool stakes only from players in the province. Casino Days, for example, carries 15 King Millions and 6 Maple Moolah titles. Those pots are funded from every spin, so the base game pays back less: Immortal Romance Maple Moolah publishes 86.73% at the SkillOnNet brands and 92.03% at Stardust, while the standard Immortal Romance publishes 92.10% at the SkillOnNet brands.

That does not make jackpot slots a bad choice; it makes them a different product. You are paying a few points of return for a small chance at a large prize. If return is your goal, play the non-jackpot version of the same game.

“Payout Percentages” You Should Not Trust

Search for the best paying casinos in Ontario and the first page is full of single-number rankings: a casino “pays 98.86%”, another “98.2%”, a third “97.1%”. Before you use one, ask three questions.

  • Is the casino on the iGaming Ontario register? In October 2026, ranking pages on the first page of Canadian results put Magic Red at the top of an Ontario list and gave figures for Wildz, Casumo and Dream Vegas. None of the four is on the register of regulated Ontario sites, so none can legally take an Ontario player’s money, whatever it pays.
  • Where does the number come from? A single “payout percentage” for a casino is usually an auditor’s report for an international operation — the Casino Rewards group’s eCOGRA report covers sixteen brands, most of them outside Ontario — or a figure with no source at all. Ontario versions of the same games can be set differently.
  • Which games is it an average of? A casino-wide figure mixes blackjack at 99% with slots at 91% to 98%. It tells you nothing about the game you are about to play.

PlayOJO is a good example of the problem done honestly. It publishes monthly payout totals on its Ontario home page — €53,276,873 paid out in September 2026 — but in euros, on a site where every Ontario account is held in Canadian dollars, which suggests the figure describes the operator’s international business. Publishing it is more than most do; it is still not an Ontario number. The only payout figure you can act on is the RTP of the specific game, read inside that game, at the casino you are using.

One Budget, Three Casinos: a Worked Example

Take a $100 budget and 500 spins of $1 on Book of Dead — a typical evening for a slot player. The game, the stake and the number of spins are identical; only the version changes.

WherePublished RTPTotal stakedExpected returnExpected cost
FanDuel96.21%$500$481.05$18.95
Stardust91.25%$500$456.25$43.75
PlayOJO, SlotsMagic, Spin Genie91.00%$500$455.00$45.00
Expected cost of 500 spins of $1 on Book of Dead at three Ontario casinos, from the published RTP. Real sessions vary widely.

Over one evening the luck of the spins will swamp these differences — you might win at the 91% version and lose at the 96% one. Over a month of evenings, the version you play decides how much the hobby costs. That is the honest meaning of “best paying”: not a casino that makes you win, but one that charges you less for the same game.

Does a Casino’s RTP Change Over Time?

The theoretical RTP of a game version does not change; the version a casino runs can. When we counted the SkillOnNet catalogue for our slots guide in September 2026, its slots averaged 93.70%; in October they averaged 93.71% across a slightly larger shelf. The figure is stable because the operator’s version choices are stable, not because nothing moved — individual games come and go every week.

Actual payouts move every day. Mr Vegas’ payout page showed Speed Baccarat A at 100.3% and Book of Dead at 92.8% on the day we read it; the same page a week later will show different numbers. That is the expected behaviour of games of chance over short periods, and it is why we rank on published RTP, not on recent results.

If you want to keep track yourself, note the RTP in the panel of the games you play most, and check it again every few months. If a favourite drops from 96% to 92%, the casino has switched versions — and the same game is probably still available at the higher setting somewhere else in Ontario.

Questions Worth Asking Support

Support teams can answer more than most players ask. Three questions that get useful answers:

  • “Which RTP version of this game do you run?” The agent can usually confirm the figure shown in the game panel.
  • “Does the bonus-buy feature have a different RTP?” On some games it does, and the panel may show a range.
  • “Is this jackpot pool Ontario-only?” Provincial pools such as Maple Moolah are funded only by Ontario players.

If an answer does not match what the game shows, trust the game: the in-game figure is the one the regulator’s rules require the operator to display.

Red Flags in RTP Information

  • Figures in euros or pounds on an Ontario site. Payout statistics in a foreign currency describe a different business.
  • “Up to” figures. “RTP up to 97%” usually describes the studio’s best version, not the one installed.
  • Casino-wide percentages with no period or auditor. A single number for a whole casino, with no source, cannot be checked.
  • Rankings that include unregistered brands. If a list of “best paying Ontario casinos” includes sites that are not on the iGaming Ontario register, its other figures deserve the same doubt.
  • Studio figures quoted as the casino’s. A review that quotes Book of Dead at 96.21% is quoting one version; at three of the five casinos we read, it is about 91%.

How to Check a Game’s RTP Before You Play

  1. Open the game, but do not spin. Every regulated Ontario game has an information or help panel — usually an “i”, a question mark or a gear icon.
  2. Find the return to player. It is normally in the rules or paytable section, stated as a percentage. Some games give a range if a feature, such as a bonus buy, changes it.
  3. Compare it with the studio’s best version. Most popular slots exist at around 96% somewhere in Ontario; if your casino shows 91% or 92%, the same game is available at a better setting elsewhere.
  4. Use the lobby where it helps. PlayOJO, SlotsMagic, Spin Genie, FanDuel, PlayFallsview and Stardust show the figure before you open the game; Betano lets you filter by high RTP.
  5. Check again after updates. Casinos can change the version they run; the panel always shows the current one.

What RTP Means for Your Money

RTP turns into money through a simple formula: the expected cost of a session is the amount you stake in total times (100% minus the RTP). Per 100 spins at $1:

Published RTPExampleExpected cost per 100 spins of $1Expected cost per 1,000 spins of $1
99.85%Blackjack Single Deck (FanDuel)$0.15$1.50
98.79%Joker Super Reels (SkillOnNet brands)$1.21$12.10
96.21%Book of Dead (FanDuel)$3.79$37.90
95.02%Average FanDuel slot$4.98$49.80
93.33%Average Stardust slot$6.67$66.70
91.00%Book of Dead (SkillOnNet brands)$9.00$90.00
Expected cost of play at different published RTPs. Real results vary widely around these averages, especially over short sessions.

The difference between the two versions of Book of Dead is $52 over a thousand $1 spins — on the same game. Between the average slot at FanDuel and at Stardust it is about $17. These are averages across all players over the long run; any single session can end far above or below them. What the numbers do tell you is the price of the entertainment, and that price is something you can choose.

RTP, Volatility and Why You Can Still Lose

RTP is only half of how a game pays. Volatility describes how the return is distributed: a low-volatility slot pays small amounts often, a high-volatility slot pays rarely and sometimes very large amounts. Two slots at 96% can feel completely different over an evening.

That is why a high RTP is a better deal, not a better outcome. A 98% high-volatility slot can empty a session budget faster than a 94% low-volatility one, simply because its wins are further apart. If you want your money to last, combine a high RTP with a volatility you are comfortable with; if you want a chance at a large win, accept that most sessions will end below the average.

A Five-Point Checklist Before You Pick a Casino for Payouts

  1. Registered? The casino must be on the iGaming Ontario register; anything else is irrelevant, however much it “pays”.
  2. Does it publish RTP before you play? Lobby figures (FanDuel, PlayFallsview, Stardust, the SkillOnNet brands) let you compare in advance.
  3. Which version of your favourite game? Open the panel and compare with the best version in the table above.
  4. How fast are withdrawals? A high return is little use if the payout takes a week — check our instant-withdrawal guide.
  5. Are your limits set? Deposit and time limits take a minute and make every other choice safer.

Best Paying vs Fastest Paying

A casino that installs high-RTP games and a casino that pays withdrawals quickly are different things, and the best one for you may not be both. Payout speed depends on verification, payment method and the operator’s processing — Interac and PayPal are usually fastest once your account is verified. We compare withdrawal times casino by casino in our guide to instant withdrawal casinos in Ontario, and payment methods in our Ontario payments guide.

Ontario’s Rules and RTP

Every game at a registered Ontario casino must come from a supplier registered with the AGCO and meet the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming, which require the game’s rules and how it pays to be available to the player. The RNG is tested; the RTP is a property of the rules. What the standards do not do is choose the version: within the settings a studio offers, the casino picks. That is why the same regulated game can publish 91% at one Ontario casino and 96% at another — both legal, one cheaper to play.

Ontario also restricts how casinos advertise inducements, which is why this page does not list bonuses. A bonus does not change a game’s RTP; wagering requirements change how much of the bonus you are likely to keep.

Five Myths About Casino Payouts

“Casinos tighten games when you are winning”

A game’s RTP is part of its certified version. A casino that wants a different return has to install a different version; it cannot turn a dial on your session. What it can do — and what this page measures — is choose the lower version in the first place.

“A game that has not paid for a while is due”

Every spin is independent. A slot does not remember its last hundred spins, and Mr Vegas’ daily payout page shows exactly that: popular games swing above and below their RTP from day to day with no pattern you can bet on.

“A high-RTP casino means I will win more often”

RTP is the long-run share returned across all players; how often you win depends on volatility. A 98% high-volatility slot can go many spins without a meaningful win.

“Demo mode pays more than real money”

Where demo mode is offered, it runs the same game; if anything, check that the demo and the real-money version show the same RTP in the panel, because the published figure is the one that applies to your stake.

“Bonus buy features have the same RTP”

Not always. Some slots publish a separate, often slightly higher or lower, RTP for the bonus-buy option. When a panel gives a range, the feature is usually the reason.

Payout Terms Explained

TermWhat it means
RTP (return to player)The theoretical share of all stakes a game pays back over the long run, as published by the operator
House edge100% minus the RTP: the casino’s long-run share
RTP version or settingOne of several builds of the same game with different returns; the casino chooses which to run
RTP rangeTwo figures for one game, usually because a feature such as bonus buy changes the return
Actual payoutWhat a game has really paid over a period; only Mr Vegas publishes it in Ontario
VolatilityHow unevenly the return is paid: rarely and large, or often and small
Payout percentage reportAn auditor’s figure for a whole operator, often international, not for one game
Jackpot contributionThe part of each stake that funds a progressive pot, lowering the base-game RTP

How We Calculated These Figures

From a Toronto connection in October 2026, we read the full game catalogue each Ontario lobby loads — the SkillOnNet catalogue shared by PlayOJO, SlotsMagic, Spin Genie and Knightslots; FanDuel’s All Games list; PlayFallsview’s and Stardust’s All Games lists; and NorthStar Bets’ game configuration, filtered to the games in its Ontario casino feed — and recorded the RTP each casino publishes for each game.

We classified games by name into slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, video poker, poker, dice, live and other, and averaged the published figures per casino. Where a game publishes a range, we used the upper figure, which is the basis most game panels show. To compare the same game across casinos we matched titles by name, ignoring punctuation. Figures for casinos that do not publish RTP in the lobby come from our individual reviews, which read their help centres and game pages.

Two limits. Published RTP is the theoretical return the operator states; we did not test games, and no player can. And catalogues change daily, so a version can be swapped after we read it — the game’s own panel is always the final word. Our wider process is in how we review casinos.

What This Ranking Cannot Tell You

A ranking is only as complete as the data behind it, so here is what ours leaves out. The largest gap is the casinos that do not publish RTP in the lobby — BetMGM, bet365, BetRivers, LeoVegas, Betway, Caesars Palace Online, 888 and most of the rest. They may well run high versions of many games; we cannot rank what we cannot read, and we will not borrow a studio’s best figure and pretend it is theirs.

Inside the five, NorthStar Bets publishes a figure for 1,202 of 1,471 games in its configuration; the rest, mostly live and instant titles, carry none. FanDuel’s list includes some live and First Person games that we kept out of its slot average. And none of the five figures says anything about how quickly or reliably a casino pays withdrawals — that is a separate test, in our instant-withdrawal guide.

If an operator starts publishing per-game RTP in its Ontario lobby, it enters this ranking at the next update. That is the incentive we would like the province to have. Until then, the casinos outside the ranking are not worse payers by definition; they are casinos whose payouts you have to check one game at a time, inside the game, after you have registered.

Our Verdict: the Best Paying Online Casino in Ontario

On published return, FanDuel is the best paying online casino in Ontario that lets you check. Its slots average 95.02%, a third of them publish 96% or more, and it runs the higher versions of the Play’n GO, NetEnt, Hacksaw and IGT games that most players actually choose. Its blackjack and video poker are among the best in the province too.

NorthStar Bets is the safest choice if you do not want to check every game: its catalogue has the fewest bad versions. PlayFallsview and Stardust are the places for table games and video poker, with blackjack up to 99.91% and full-pay Jacks or Better. PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie have the widest choice and the most transparent lobby, but their versions of Play’n GO, Red Tiger and Games Global games are low — use their published RTP to pick from their excellent Relax, Big Time Gaming and Barcrest shelves instead.

For every other Ontario casino the answer depends on the game, because the figure lives inside it. The habit that makes any casino a better-paying one is the same everywhere: open the information panel before the first spin, and if the number is three or four points below the best version in this guide, play that game somewhere else.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best paying online casino in Ontario?

Of the Ontario casinos that publish an RTP for every game, FanDuel has the highest average for slots, at 95.02%, followed by NorthStar Bets (94.54%) and PlayFallsview (94.48%). FanDuel runs the higher-RTP versions of Play’n GO, NetEnt, Hacksaw and IGT games.

Why does the same slot have a different RTP at different casinos?

Studios release many games in several RTP versions, and each casino chooses which to install. Book of Dead publishes 96.21% at FanDuel and 91.00% at PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie — the same game at two settings.

Which online casino game pays the most in Ontario?

Blackjack and video poker played with correct strategy. The highest published figures we found were 99.91% for a multi-hand blackjack game at Stardust and 99.92% for IGT’s Super Times Pay video poker at FanDuel.

What is a good RTP for an online slot?

Above 96% is good; 97% or more is rare — only 1.8% of FanDuel’s slots and about 1% at the other casinos reach it. Below 94% is low, and below 92% usually means a lower version of a game available at a better setting elsewhere.

Which Ontario casinos do not publish RTP?

BetRivers, Jackpot City and BetVictor publish no RTP on any public Ontario page, and several others show it only inside each game after login. The figure is always in the game’s information panel.

Are payout percentages of 98% for Ontario casinos real?

Treat them with caution. Several rankings quote casino-wide figures for brands that are not on the iGaming Ontario register, or use auditor reports that cover international operations. The reliable figure is the RTP of each game at the casino you use.

Is the best paying casino the same as the fastest paying?

No. RTP decides how much of your stake comes back over time; payout speed decides how quickly a withdrawal arrives. Our instant-withdrawal guide compares the second.

Does Pragmatic Play have different RTPs at different Ontario casinos?

Mostly not. Gates of Olympus publishes 94.50% at every casino we checked, Sweet Bonanza 95.45% and The Dog House 95.51%. The big differences are in Play’n GO, NetEnt, Hacksaw, IGT and Red Tiger games.

Can I see a casino’s actual payouts in Ontario?

Mr Vegas is the only Ontario casino we found that publishes actual payouts per game, updated daily. Over short periods they swing above and below the theoretical RTP.

Do bonuses change a game’s RTP?

No. The game pays the same; wagering requirements decide how much of a bonus you are likely to keep. Ontario rules restrict bonus advertising, so this page does not list them.

Which Ontario casino has the highest RTP slots?

The highest published slot we found is Joker Super Reels at 98.79% at PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie, followed by Moon Spell at 98.69% at FanDuel and Dr Jekyll Goes Wild at 98.20% at four casinos.

Is FanDuel always the best version of a game?

No. FanDuel has the best version of most Play’n GO, NetEnt and Hacksaw games we compared, but Santa Spins and Love Joker publish more at the SkillOnNet brands, and Top o the Money more at PlayFallsview and NorthStar Bets.

Does Ontario set a minimum RTP?

Ontario’s standards require games to be fair, tested and to display their rules; the casino chooses among the RTP versions a studio offers. That is why the same regulated game can publish 91% at one casino and 96% at another.

Where can I see the RTP of a game before I deposit?

At PlayOJO, SlotsMagic, Spin Genie, FanDuel, PlayFallsview and Stardust, the lobby shows a figure for each game before you open it. Elsewhere, open the game’s information panel.

What RTP do Ontario casinos average across all games?

Slots average 93.3% to 95.0% at the five casinos that publish every figure; blackjack, baccarat and video poker average 98% to 99%. Betway gives a casino-wide average of 94.36%.

Is Book of Dead 96% in Ontario?

It depends on the casino. FanDuel publishes 96.21%; Stardust 91.25%; PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie 91.00%. Check the game panel at your casino.

Which studio has the most consistent RTP across Ontario casinos?

Pragmatic Play. Its popular games publish the same figure at every casino we checked, and its casino averages sit within half a point.

Does a higher RTP mean faster withdrawals?

No. RTP and payout speed are unrelated; a casino can install high-RTP games and still take days to process a withdrawal.

Why do PlayOJO and SlotsMagic have the same RTPs?

They share one catalogue run by Skill On Net, along with Spin Genie and Knightslots, so every game publishes the same figure at all four.

Are live dealer games the best paying in Ontario?

Live blackjack and baccarat return about 98–99% with correct play, close to their software versions. Game shows return less, around 95–98.75%.

Who decides a slot’s RTP in Ontario?

The studio designs the versions and an independent laboratory tests them; the casino chooses which version to install. Ontario’s rules require the game to be fair, tested and to show its rules.

Is a 96% slot twice as good as a 92% slot?

In expected cost, yes: a 96% slot costs $4 per $100 staked on average, a 92% slot $8. Over a short session, luck matters far more than either figure.

Do Ontario casinos change a game’s RTP over time?

They can switch to a different certified version, which is why the panel inside the game is the final word. The figures on this page were read in October 2026.

What is the best paying table game in Ontario?

Single-deck and multi-hand blackjack publish up to 99.85–99.91% with basic strategy, and full-pay video poker 99.54–99.92% with correct holds. Baccarat’s banker bet returns 98.94%.

Is Jacks or Better 99.54% everywhere in Ontario?

Only on the full 9/6 paytable, which Stardust runs. Versions with an 8/5 or 7/5 paytable return about 97.30% and 96.15%.

Does the time of day affect slot payouts?

No. A game’s RTP is fixed by its version; results vary randomly from spin to spin and day to day.

Which Ontario casino pays the most on live blackjack?

Sports Interaction’s Ontario Blackjack publishes 99.46%, the best live table figure we found. In the catalogue shared by PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie, live blackjack averages 99.04%, with some tables as low as 89.64%.

Is a casino with more games a better payer?

No. The largest catalogue in Ontario, shared by PlayOJO, SlotsMagic and Spin Genie, has one of the lowest slot averages because of the versions it installs. Size and return are unrelated.

Can I trust the RTP shown in an Ontario casino game?

Yes, as the theoretical return of the version installed. It comes from the certified game, and Ontario’s rules require the operator to display the game’s rules. It does not predict any single session.

Why is BetMGM not in the ranking?

BetMGM, like bet365, BetRivers and most Ontario casinos, does not publish per-game RTP in its lobby, so there is no data to rank on the same basis. The figure is inside each game.

How often is this ranking updated?

We re-read the five catalogues when we update the individual reviews. Game versions change, so always check the panel in the game.

Which is better for payouts, PlayOJO or FanDuel?

On published slot RTP, FanDuel: 95.02% on average against 93.71%, and much higher on Play’n GO and NetEnt games. PlayOJO has the larger library and publishes RTP on its game pages, which makes its better shelves easy to find.

Does Betano let me filter games by RTP?

Yes. Betano is one of very few Ontario casinos with a High RTP filter in the lobby, and it publishes a 94–98% band for its slots. Check the exact figure in each game’s panel.

Are jackpot slots the worst paying games?

Their base game usually returns less, because part of each stake funds the pot: Immortal Romance Maple Moolah publishes 86.73% at the SkillOnNet brands. You are paying for a chance at the jackpot rather than for return.
